Screaming Angels

 When do we wake up?

Our world is burning.

This land is crumbling,

Our seas become plastic.

When do we say stop?

Our world is on the edge.

It dangles on a precipice,

Our only choice is to scream.

Why were we so blind?

Our trees become kindling.

Our breath is now laboured,

Our kin cannot breathe.

How can we still sleep?

Our lovely creatures perish,

Still we do not cease,

We continue to consume.

When does it end?

In terror and fear.

We made it this way,

The gift we have done in.

What can be done?

To be reactionary is a lie.

To be aware, to take steps,

Keeping hope alive 'til the end.

How to repent these sins?

Also judge not others.

Only comfort and ease,

You can bring to some.

Where can we turn?

We have created this hell,

No need to fear the devil

He lives within us all.

How does the fire consume all?

There is no way to hide.

Like a ravenous lion,

By its laws we must abide.

Where is our faith?

At the end of it all,

Our world taken from us,

With no where left to fall.

Why can't we see the honour of us?

The fragility of our sanity.

The angels' screaming at us now,

All because we want to eat the sacred cow.

Wake the hell up!

Written next to a river leading to Middle Cove Beach on May 28th, 2024

 Flowing of the river

like thoughts through their minds.

At parts quick and clear,

At parts dark, not all kind.

Water cascades quickly,

down and around the rocks.

The fresh sound of it now,

opens up a memory lock.

Being young and carefree,

dipping toes in the brook.

Wading through the reeds,

to find shells to be took.

How it felt to gaze in water,

looking for fish and frogs.

So inquiring, so waunderful,

dodging all the fallen logs.

Walking miles up the river,

curious as can be,

to see one more tree,

one more flower gave glee.

Their imaginations were good,

as the surroundings were.

Wandering for some time,

to see creatures with fur.

The air was the best,

to breathe in from the source.

Pines here everywhere,

reaching up with great force.

In these days they knew not,

of the climate crisis to come.

Just care-free and light,

They knew not of feeling numb.

Numb to the air,

to the waters,

to the earth itself...

It's scary where we are headed.

The Stubborn Mule

I will never quit, said the Stubborn Mule.

I can not quit, she said again.

I can keep trying, again and again.

I could not stop, not now, not ever.

I shall never cease efforts, not now, not ever.

I could not stop til' my doubts be severed.

I should never lose hope.

I should never give up.

I shall always see a half-full cup.

I would not faulter, give in,

I would not break, despite the bad.

I would stay determined, no matter how sad.

I did not cry, said the Stubborn Mule.

I did not break, even with the weight,

I did not falter, even with my fate.

So I won!

Personifying Pines: A tree as a woman

The wind is cold,

the frost is in the air.

A pine tree shivers

From the snow that covers it,

Changing its cheery green to white all over.

The tree stands tall however,

nor cold, nor ice will tear this giant down.

She remains steadfast and strong,

a symbol to all to ‘grin and bear it.’

The tree continues to produce oxygen ,

Like females produce young, as well as shelter

For this alone she is an object of worship

Amongst all land-dwelling animals.

In this moment, the poor pine tree is frigid,

she continues to get her nutrients from the ground,

from the rain water, and from Mother Earth.

She refuses to be downtrodden.

As they  tend to grow together in groups,

so do the earth’s homo erectus.

Too bad the growth of God’s Adams and Eves

has led to such downfall of the mighty tree!

The shivering pine is angry with all,

a wastage of God’s ‘Paradise’

has not gone unnoticed by it,

and her nearby comrades are aware of this too.

They think, If only humans could be less egotistical,

perhaps braver. more resourceful,

less focused on reaping resources from the land,

and more focused on restoring balance……

If only…

Reflections on a walk

They walk along the sidewalk,
left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot.
They must not think of the feelings of blank,
they're feeling dark as soot.

There is an inner fear
that rises from within them,
must fight it from inside,
have to cut it from the stem.

When reflecting they feel empty,
Like a vase without the flowers.
To refocus they must focus
on their individual powers.

Still they feel more alone,
when they focus on the bad.
They try so hard not to,
but reality can be so sad.

As they walk along they realize
maybe all is not at great cost,
Weighing pros against the cons,
balancing to see what is lost.

However, they may in fact blossom,
rising from this like the sun.
Kind of doing a sort of 180,
returning at once to the fun.

It can be a real challenge,
it can be super hard.
They can do it however,
no matter the hand or the card.

Keep it positive thy say,
Never bend to the pressure.
Never give up!
Never ever! No way!

MOLLY 😊

Perseverance (acrostic poem # 6)

Parts of me never want to falter

Etched in my mind are my goals

Right now I just want to continue

Succeed or keep trying

Efforts never ceasing

Very sure I must keep going

Echoes of my voice

Ranting in my mind

Applying my best to every day

Never failing to smile

Caring about my future always

Enjoying every moment

<3 Valentine's Day <3

A day to celebrate,

The most precious

Human emotion,

Love.

A day to remember

To think of the people,

We love.

Whether we are separated

From others by time or space...

Our feelings still exist.

Love for our family members,

Love for our friends,

Love for someone special,

Love is so precious.

The feeling we have in our hearts,

That makes our cheeks...

Flush rosy red.

From your first small crush,

To your one true love!

This love, sweet love,

There is nothing else that can even come close...

To love.

Unbearable

This pain is....

Unrecognizable

Misunderstanding

Tearing apart

Eviscerating

Negative

Hard

This pain is

Impossible

 to live with

To deal with

To comprehend

FINAL exams.... :S

I hope I do good!

Study, study, study,

That's all I do...

Study, study, study,

I have no time to feel blue!

Study,  study,  study,

Get it cemented in your brain;

Study, study, study,

Stay at that desk, use a chain!!!

Study, learn, study.

Encode, store, retrieve.

Study, learn, study,

this desk you will never leave!

Learn, study, learn

'til you hear it in your sleep.

Learn, study, learn

It becomes easy, like counting sheep...

Study, study, study,

learn, learn, learn,

read, write, again!

and never from this textbook turn! ;)

Concentrate ( acrostic poem no. 5)

Concentrate real hard.

Open mind,

Never get distracted!

Conscious thoughts.

Even time spent.

Never let your mind drift!

Trying so hard to memorize!

Right from the start,

All of your mind must go into this.

Two, three, four times over, until it

Echoes in your mind.

Back To School

Back to studying....

     Oh groan!!!!

Back to reading,

     Oh nooooooo!!!!

Back to writing,

       Oh my!

Back to memorizing,

        Oh Gosh!

Back to seeing friends,

        every day!

Back to meeting new people,

        every week!

Back to attending

        many social events.

Back to long days and nights,

        books spread on a table.

Back to pulling all nighters!

        Back to putting stuff off!

Back to strained eyes and bad backs,

All in the name of Education.

Good luck students of every age!

Burin Peninsula drive with my Pop and Nan

Grand Bank is home sweet home,
under a sunshine dome!
In Fortune, a gateway to another country,
with beautiful rock sediments and history.

Beautiful sunshiny day in Point May
pure happiness in a simple ray
Calmer; peace in its name,
will always be the same
Oh I am so keen,
of sweet little Lamaline

We certainly will fall,
for Pointe au Gaul
Taylor's Bay -I have heard them say
that this place is quite okay.
Lord's cove ~~horses galore,
this land I adore

Each and every dawn
is quite special in our Lawn.
St. Lawrence- the very best
place for adorance
Epworth makes me so thoughtful,
so thoughtful indeed of Wordsworth.
Wans Worth reminds me of the north,
pretty cold in the winter
but with very pretty summers.

Lance E Ou reminds me straightaway
of Lance Aux Loup, where I spent so
many childhood summer days. :)
Big Salmonier..... mmmm salmon is all I have to say about this one.
Lewin's Cove, quaint and pretty, quite like a dove
I have heard it said quite often, "the place for all the best curin' " is Burin.

Marystown is at its core,
they sure have many stores.
 Then we have Frenchman's Cove
which is as precious as a dove.
Sea side with beautiful gardens in Garnish,
this wonderful place will never tarnish.

Grand Beach, place of my sweet Grandmother's birth,
she has held so many of us,
her love continues to reach everyone with no fuss.

Grand Bank,  place of so many
happy, wonderful, and cherishable
childhood memories...

home sweet home.

⚽️Summer Rain

Children play in the garden,

oblivious to the impending weather.

Children play, so carefree

as light as some feathers.

The sun beams from the sky,

let's play soccer sweet, young boy.

Or perhaps you would like to play indoors,

with a new game or a really cool toy.

Enjoy every moment

you possibly can outdoors.

Before you know it,

weather can change and the rain will pour.

Rain beats down softly

on the window panes.

Watering our trees, grass and plants,

balancing out our wonderful food chain.

My Spectacular Pop (acrostic poem no. 4)

Magnificently,

You're MY pop. How lucky could one be?

Special you are,

Precious indeed;

Excellent - on all accounts!

Could never find a better one,

Terrific you surely are.

Amazing from

Childhood to Adulthood

Unbelievably

Loveable

Automatically forgiving

Rough on the outside, soft inside.

Patience galore

Oh, how lucky could we be to have you, dearest Pop...

....Part of our family forever!!

Sacrifice

cold, like the crystal white snow,

cascading from the blue sky

wind, violent, also harsh

blowing and tearing at objects

cheeks rosy, noses red,

eyes are crying,

but I'm laughing instead.

Cause you made it home safe.

sweet boy

To feel anything,

It is all numb,

To feel everything,

This makes me dumb.

This frustrating,

This very unreal,

This painful cold;

My skin feels teal.

I love you...

Robins, sparrows, and Ducklings, oh my! :)

Let's go to the pond -

let's feed those ducks.

We can grow more fond

of each other on this trip!

Let's go hear the beautiful robins

as they sing to each other through the trees.

Let's hear them chirp out beautiful songs,

as we walk along this nature path, so free!

Let's watch the sparrows soar

so high above our heads.

Touching us to our cores,

as we wander on our way.

Let's continue on this path,

let's stop to watch those crows.

We can wander over there,

to you I will certainly show.

Now we have the Common Loon,

what a nice bird this is.

What a pretty and catchy tune.

Wail aloud the songs of nature.

This land is made of hills,

this land is full of rocks.

Trees are almost everywhere,

they can shelter hawks.

We have large-eyed owls,

they go, “Who-who-who!”

They will turn to you, they scowl,

Just when you look at them.

Innocence

Sweet, perfect child;

innocent in soul and mind.

In words and actions you are kind,

fair in everything you do.

Clap your hands,

paint until your heart's content.

Dance or sing,

Anything for smiles, I will bring

Your style's so cool!

You have so much class,

you stand out from the mass.

You are awesome, for sure!

Never stop believing,

never stop striving.

You can do this!

You will not miss!

You love that doll,

let's brush her hair.

Or change her clothes,

or draw a picture there.

You love those dinosaurs,

let's play a video game.

Or play some truth or dare,

or play with tigger and pooh bear.

Maybe we should paint,

or draw pictures of each other.

Better yet, I will draw you,

you can always draw another.

I wish you the very best

as you face the challenges ahead.

I sincerely hope you face no dread,

Just wonderful, spectacular days.

My Mother, Acrostic Poem no. 3

My Mom is so sweet,

you would never believe.

My mother is the best,

one-in-a-million – she's great;

there has never been, nor ever will be a

human who cares so deeply, and understands so well;

everlasting, never-ending love

right from the start, we captured one another's hearts.

I will never love another in this unique way...

The Runner (acrostic poem #2)

(Acrostic Poem no.2)

The Runner started off slow.

He used to run just for exercise;

Exercise for his body.

Racing past the rest,

Up, up, and away!

Now he runs for his mind;

Now he runs to stay sane.

Echoes of his footsteps,

Reverberating in her mind.

True Love - R+M -

I wish I could be there,

right there to see you both;

on this most important day,

most memorable moment.

My heart and soul are with you both

on this most special day.

I want you both to know:

I'd give my left arm to be there!

R, I am sure you are so incredibly beautiful today

I feel super blessed to have witnessed you both from the beginning.

I'm sure that when M. sees you, you will take his breath away

Hopefully I get to witness even more in the future!

Love you both!

I wish you a lifetime of happiness!
